A Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer who doubles as an American citizen. David Adedeji Adeleke, famously known all over the world with his stage name, Davido, was born in Atlanta in 21st November 1992.

Although an American-born, he was raised in the famous busy city of Lagos, Nigeria. Just like every other self-made millionaire, Davido who initially dropped out of school has experienced his own fair share of life.


Although it is unconfirmed, reports have it that Davido is worth around $16M. He is currently ranked as one of the best and famous artists in Africa. He owns choice properties in highbrow locations in the world, as well as exotic and luxury cars.

In one of his songs, he was quoted boasting to have 30 billion Naira in his bank account.

A Little About His Education History

Being the youngest and the second son of a billionaire business magnate father, Prince Adedeji Adeleke and a university lecturer mother, Veronica Adeleke.

Davido attended the British International School in Lagos, before moving to Alabama, US at age 16, to study business administration at Oakwood University.

Due to his passion for music, he was able to save some money to buy some musical instruments while in school so he could practice and make musical beats.

Before he returned to Nigeria in 2011, he relocated to London where he worked on his vocals having abandoned his studies to pursue a full-time music career.

To honour his dad, he paused his musical career and enrolled into Babcock University, Nigeria as the pioneer student of the music department of the school. Four years later, he graduated with a degree in music specifically in July 2015.

Musical Career


In 2011, Davido made his debut into the music industry with his studio album title Omo Baba Olowo, a native phrase which means, the son of a rich man. The album is a mixture of afro-beats and hip-hop.

Despite the negative reviews and critics which followed the album release, the album won Best R&B/Pop Album and received a nomination for Album of the Year at The Headies 2013.

He also released some standalone tracks such as “Gobe” and “Skelewu”. Between 2017 – 2018, he also released the “If”, “Fall”, “Fia” and “Assurance” tracks. Davido won Best African Act at the 2017 MOBO Awards.

In 2018, his track, “If” won Best Pop Single and Song of the Year at The Headies 2018.

In January 2019, Davido was on the headlines for recording a sold-out concert at the O2 Arena in London. He performed several of his hit tracks after being introduced on stage by one of Hollywood finest, Idris Elba.

Davido is has signed several endorsements deals with multinational companies such as MTN, Infinix Mobile and so many more.

The Controversies of Davido

In 2014, Davido accused the Nigerian Immigration Service of being responsible after he missed his flight to London. He said the officer was pestering him for money which led to a delay. In response to the allegation, the Nigerian Immigration said that Davido was not issued an exit permit because he was not having the necessary documents for the travel.

In December 2015, Vanguard newspaper reported Davido and the mother of one of his daughters were embroiled in a struggle over custody of their child. Davido labelled the allegations as false and went further to apologize to Dele Momodu who is an uncle to Sophia.

Again in 2017, he was fingered as a suspect in the death of a close friend named Tagbo. The incident generated a lot of heat after which he was eventually cleared of the accusations.

Romance and Love Life of Davido

Just like most celebrities, Davido has had his up and downs in heart-related matters. He has been in several relationships both known and unknown.

While there might be some unknown relationships of the 30 billion gang leader, below are the names of the mothers and children of his previous and current relationships.

#1. Aurora Imade Adeleke is the first daughter and child of the music guru. She was born to him by Sophia Momodu, a fashion enthusiast and a niece of the Ovation Company CEO, Dele Momodu.

When the child was born, a DNA test was conducted to ascertain the true father of the little Imade Adeleke. Davido had no choice than to accept the responsibility of the child when the test confirmed him as the true father of the child.

#2. Hailey Veronica Adeleke was the name given to his second daughter and child by the music artist. The child was a product of his affairs with Amanda, the mother of the child who is based in Atlanta. The news of his second daughter came to the world as a shock because as at that time, he was not known to be in any relationship. But all the same, Davido seemed happy with the development and embraced the change wholeheartedly.

#3. The popular mother of the Nigerian Music star’s son, Chioma who is known as ChefChi, gave him a son in late 2019.

The love affair started as a joke with Davido releasing a music track in her name. Their relationship generated lots of heat when a breakup was rumoured. This went further until the music star calmed the situation with a marriage proposal.

Although they are yet to be legally married, the duo seems to be happy with their son Ifeanyi Adeleke.
